iOS 6.x Jailbreak Released
Installing the jailbreak is quite simple - just a matter of downloading the release for your computer's operating system (there are options for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows) and following the instructions. Probably the most important thing to remember to do is back up your device to iTunes / iCloud before you begin, just so that if anything goes wrong you'll be able to recover your data. Apparently disabling lock passcodes can also be a good idea. For the full instructions, check out the website or simply run the app.
With the release coming just one week after the new version of iOS was release, the timing is no accident. It's common among jailbreak developer circles to sit on potential exploits until a new version of iOS is released, in order to give users the longest possible time until Apple fixes the exploit used in their next software update.
While jailbreaks may or may not be illegal in the United States, evasi0n has still proved to be quite popular. The site reporting seeing 270,000 simultaneous users on the day of release, and no doubt many millions of iOS devices have already had the jailbreak applied. You may think that the most essential iPhone 5 accessory is a case or screen protector, but these kind of numbers suggest the most popular complements to iOS devices are virtual ones instead.
