Image
According to a post made on the official Windows Phone Colombia Facebook page, we'll finally see the  Windows Phone 7.8  update begin to hit some handsets from the 31st of January. That's well within the Q1 window that was last specified by Microsoft , albeit some seven months after the update was originally announced by the Redmond-based firm. The new Windows Phone 7.8 will hit roughly three months after Windows Phone 8 was released and aims to bring as many features as possible from that release to older handsets that cannot be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 itself. According to GSMArena , who have been using a pre-release Nokia Lumia 510 , the update is mainly cosmetic in nature. You'll receive a new boot screen, new theme colours and the ability to resize tiles into the new 1x1 size. There are some more substantive additions as well, including new apps for making ringtones, calculating mobile internet usage and transferring files across Bluetooth connection...

Protecting your data centre with fire suppression

Image
With the amount of heat generated by data centres and IT facilities, it is no surprise that there are plenty of different fire suppression options out there to help prevent fire and the serious damage it causes. Google Data Centre Data centres by their very nature need to be running 24 hours a day and any disruption to any of their primary services could be critical, meaning the need to protect against a potentially ruinous fire is crucial. So, first things first, what are the systems available to you if you want to protect your IT facility? Well, obviously, sprinkler systems are off the menu; dousing your servers in water probably isn’t the best way to go if you want to keep your services up and running. No, there are other choices out there that will keep your equipment safe from fire and not damage it in the event of a blaze breaking out. After all, prevention is better than the cure and fire suppression systems are based upon that principle. First off, let’s take...

Influence of Social Media on the Music Industry

Image
Even a decade before no one would have foreseen the magnitude of the impact that social media has brought on the way music is delivered to enthusiasts. The change was visible to some extent even during the days of personal computers and laptops, and further compounded when fast internet connectivity became a reality. The Internet revolution made dissemination of information and news on music an up to minute affair. People nowadays don’t depend on the print media and that is because blogs/social media have taken over their function. That everything is delivered to readers fast and in no time sounds good, but along came piracy on a massive scale, and that social media fuelled it to unforeseen levels is not deniable. With millions of users using social media to exchange and download media on peer to peer networks, and social media users exploding and growing at mind blogging speed, the future of music industry itself has come under severe strain. The overall impact is there f...

5 Easy Tips To Get Facebook Fans Easily

Image
Facebook has shown a lot of potential in promoting businesses, but a lot of people still don’t know how to use it at its full value. If you’re looking forward to attracting more fans to your facebook page, here are 5 essential tips you should consider: 1. Use several tabs Tabs are an efficient way to organize your facebook page and to make it more attractive to visitors. For instance, you might give the users a chance to either like your page or to like different products or services from it. As you create different tabs for your page, think about how giving the users something useful, but without conglomerating the page or trying to retain the users on there, especially if you have similar content on your website. When appropriate, point some links that lead straight to your site. Also, remember that you are able to set any tabs on your initial page (the page where non-fans land the first time). This way you won’t limit your visitors and you will get closer to...

5 Apps to Replace Your Built-In Contacts (Android & iOS)

Image
I t’s high time that we threw away the default contacts in our cellphones . Nowadays you can get hundreds of beautiful and capable contacts apps in iTunes Store and Google Play , here are the 5 apps I think which are superior than the built-in contacts app. Smarter This app requires you to register with your email, and it allows you to sync with iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo email, Outlook, Calendar, and import your contacts from Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Another highlight is that Smarter will organize your contacts upon how frequently you contact him/her, no need to manually set them in order for a more convenient call, pretty smart, right? It can also pull all the activities related to this contact together and display them to you, including the emails, SMS, and calls, also the involved calendar event. It is free to use, and available on both iOS and Android . Contacts+ Once you run this app, it will show your contacts in latticed interface, a bit like browsi...

Importance of SEO for the Success of Your Website

Image
Why you shouldn't ignore  Search Engine Optimization or SEO A brick-and-mortar store with an unlisted phone number, no signs and no advertising will quickly find itself struggling to survive. That’s because word of mouth on its own is rarely enough to make any business successful. A business needs to be known and to be found easily by potential customers in order to be patronized. Additionally, potential customers appreciate knowing what goods or services a particular business offers before they visit it. The same is true for websites. A website that is not easily found or does not have an obvious purpose is not going to be frequently visited.  Search Engine Optimization  ensures that potential customers can easily and readily locate your business’ website. I have already posted an article on White Hat SEO Techniques , which you will find useful. Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of designing individual webpages and entire websites...
