The Blackberry Curve 9220 is an entry level phone, by which RIM hopes to capture a significant section of the low-budget smartphone category. It is priced at INR 10,990. Apps worth INR 2,500 will be made available to buyers from App World, till June 30.


The phone boasts of very basic specifications, and is a good option for buyers who are looking for basic connectivity and internet access.
The 9220 runs on the Blackberry OS 7.1 and, according to RIM, has the longest battery life among all Curve smartphone models. It supports quadband GSM. However, there is no 3G support, which could be 
a major factor working against the phone.

Curve 9220 phones are powered with standard battery of 1450 mAh Lithuim-ion, which ensures that the user can enjoy talk-time up to 7 hrs and music-play up to 28 hrs.
Curve 9220 has a 2.44" TFT screen, with a 65k colour (QVGA) display. That means, at a resolution of 320x240, this amounts to a pixel density of approximately 164 ppi. It has 512MB of RAM, and 512MB of phone memory. It has an external microSD support up to 32GB. However, a significant improvement has been seen in the form of Wi-Fi connectivity, FM Radio and a dedicated BBM key. These features will definitely enhance the user experience. The 9220 also has a primary 2MP camera.

BlackBerry Curve 9220 handsets are provided with QWERTY keyboard as well as with MP3 and polyphonic ringtones. These phones sport Stereo FM radio with RDS for entertainment purpose.
A buyer avail BlackBerry Curve 9220 in black, fuschia pink, teal blue and pure white colors with lustrous shine and finish.

Cons:

BlackBerry Curve 9220 is available at very reasonable prices, but these phones lack many advanced applications and tools in comparison to other smartphones. Consumers have certain complaints about these phones. BlackBerry Curve 9220 phones have some distinct disadvantages, which are cited below:
  • Camera of these Curve 9220 phones is not impressive
  • Unresponsive touch-pad
  • Lack of 3G facility 
  • The shape is not attractive
