Amazon Launches in India as Junglee

Amazon, the internet shopping giant has sprouted it’s offshoot in India as Junglee. Amazon decides to try a different tactic to woo Indian customers from competing websites like Flipkart and Infibeam by acting as an yellow page where big and small retailers can upload their catalogues and sell their products.
Amazon does this so that it can boast a wider variety of products than it’s competitiors.

If you want to buy something from Junglee, you do not but it directly from Amazon but from the seller’s website. Also the seller is responsible for shipping, offers, refund policies. This means that you will have to check the policies of the different seller sites.

Junglee boasts of having 1.2 crore products (12 million) from all categories, Amazon delivers content from several small sites like Homeshop18, UniverCell, Hidesign, Gitanjali, The Bombay Store, Fabindia, Bata India Limited, Dabur Uveda, Microsoft India Store, Reebok, and Amazon.com.

Junglee vs Other services

Since Junglee acts as a comparision engine, we can see how well it performs with two other popular services, indiabookstore.net and mysmartprice.com. The first book  tested was Stephen Hawking’s The Grand Design, in IndiaBookstore, the lowest price was found on both Junglee and Indiabookstore.net, as both check prices from nearly the same sites.
