Nokia EOS may be company's first quad-core phone

Image
Nokia has had a quiet year thus far, but on the back of financials reported yesterday the Finnish company is looking more and more likely to turn themselves around. While adoption in the United States has slowed as of late, one big new phone may be enough to reverse that trend: The Nokia EOS . The phone, which is still going by its codename but will likely eventually become the Nokia Lumia 1000, is set to be the first true PureView Lumia phone . The first PureView phone, the Nokia 808, ran the old Symbian operating system. The second PureView phone, the Lumia 920, added optical image stabilisation but negelected to include the full 41 megapixel sensor that made the 808 so powerful. Now, the Nokia EOS looks to combine both of these strengths into a single phone, with a 41 megapixel sensor, optical image stabilisation and variable aperture lens. This should make for the best camera ever found on a smartphone - a title that Nokia is sure to see translated into higher sales. T...

Top 5 Nokia Lumia 920 accessories

Image
Good morning everyone! Today we're going to be looking at five of the best accessories available for Nokia's top of the line Windows Phone, the Lumia 920 . These accessories will extend the life and times of your phone, allowing you to get the most out of it. Let's get right into the selections. 5. Nokia Lumia 920 Case-Compatible Charging Dock This charging dock offers a few advantages over new-fangled wireless charging docks: it is cheaper and it works even when a case is in use. Considering the relatively large size of the Lumia 920, this is no small feat. The charging dock is in portrait orientation, marking it for use in writing messages and browsing the web instead of playing games or watching videos. 4. Case-Mate Tough Case for Nokia Lumia 920 The Lumia 920 is the thickest and heaviest of the current range of flagship phones across manufacturers and operating systems. That makes it durable to scratches, but also ensures that it hits the ground hard....

Nokia Lumia 950 Prototype Appears

Image
This weeks sees the release of the Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 720, but it also has shown us what could be the next top of the line Lumia: the Nokia Lumia 950 . The folks over at WPCentral have posted pictures of the purported handset, which looks like it could be the ultimate PureView phone we've been waiting for. The first thing you'll notice about the phone is that it's much boxier than we've seen from Lumia in the past. We've heard that Nokia were updating their design language to better differentiate themselves and stay modern, and it looks like this may be one avenue they're exploring. The screen has a resolution of 1280 x 768 (the current maximum supported on Windows Phone 8) and will reportedly be a Super AMOLED display based on the PureMotion HD panel inside the current top dog Lumia 920. Beneath the screen there's an odd squarish Windows button, flanked with the standard search and buttons to the right and left, respectively. Inside th...

New blogs are coming out every single day. Some bloggers are successful in handling more than just one blog, while others aren’t quite certain how to manage the single one they own and attract more traffic and readers outside their family and friend circles. Mistakes are allowed, but the important thing is to learn from them, understand what should be done to get things right and continue on the good path. Here are 10 great tips to help you blog like a pro: 1) Be careful when choosing your blog topic . If you choose to write on a topic you aren’t familiar with and have no interest in researching further you’ll soon find yourself in a situation where you don’t know, or have nothing to write for your blog. In order to avoid such situations you should be careful when selecting your blog topic, choosing something you can relate with and share your knowledge with others. 2) Be consistent and disciplined. Once you start your blog you cannot “forget” to post, or procrastinate writin...

Facebook offers free calls in the UK

Image
After launching free calls for North Americans earlier this year, Facebook is now finally allowing the British a chance to get in on the service. Or more specifically, British people that are using an iPhone , iPad or iPod Touch . Getting started is fairly simple - just download and open the Facebook Messenger app . Next, select the "i" button in conversation view and press "Free call". Like proper phone calls, you're able to use other applications while keeping the call going and leave voice messages. If you receive a call, you'll receive a push notification to let you know. With the service now available in the UK, Canada and the US, it's now possible to call internationally for free. This has long been possible with Skype, but many more people use Facebook and there's no need to find additional contact information. Voice quality is consistent with Skype and other VOIP providers like Viber. It's not known if Facebook plans to ope...
