Facebook Settles Law Suit for $10 Million

Facebook's service allowed companies to pay to retransmit users' activities to their friends' pages. If a user clicked the "like" button for a brand, the click might show up as a "sponsored story" on friends' pages. A "Sponsored Story" is an advertisement that appears on a member's Facebook page and generally consists of another friend's name, profile picture and an assertion that the person "likes" the advertiser. The ads started in early 2011.

San Francisco, Feb 21, 2012, Reuters : Faceebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg Josh Buckley, Chief Executive of an online gaming start-up, is looking forward to next month’s Game Developers Conference, particularly for parties with industry A-listers. But, Buckley, who will turn 20 this week, may be turned away from the parties because he is not old enough to drink. Such are the dilemmas facing the ever-younger entrepreneurs that Silicon Valley investors are backing these days. While little data on the phenomenon exists, venture capitalists say they are funding more chief executives under age 21 than ever before.

Zuckerberg can't create a rival to his own Facebook

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will get millions of dollars in salary, bonuses and stock options, but cannot work on creating a rival to the social networking giant. This has been disclosed in Facebook's amended registration document for its upcoming IPO, filed with the US market regulator Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) . According to Zuckerberg’s employment agreement with Facebook, his job can be terminated “at any time for any reason or no reason”, either by him or by the company. Besides, the company's employment agreement does not allow Zuckerberg to “assist any person or entity in competing with the company, in preparing to compete with the company or in hiring any employees or consultants of the company”. Similar clauses apply to Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Financial Officer David Ebersman and Vice-President (Engineering) Mike Schroepfer for the period they render their services to Facebook.
